Domestic Violence Awareness
In 1992, Alpha Chi Omega adopted Domestic Violence Awareness as our national philanthropy. Alpha Chi Omega strives to build healthy relationships while fighting against unhealthy relationships. Members serve individuals and families impacted by domestic violence through fundraising and donating time and talent with shelters and other service-providing organizations. Alpha Chi Omega also works to educate its members and continually give them tools to educate others and spread awareness. All Alpha Chi Omega chapters participate annually in Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Healthy Relationships Week, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and other educational programing.

The MacDowell Colony
Alpha Chi Omega’s first philanthropic project was supporting the MacDowell Colony in Petersburg, New Hampshire. The mission of the MacDowell Colony is to nurture the arts by supporting talented artists known and unknown. They provide an inspiring environment where artists can produce all sorts of unique works. The colony accepts visual and interdisciplinary artists, architects, filmmakers, composers, playwrights, poets, and writers. Annually, Alpha Chi Omega celebrates our rich heritage in the arts and the McDowell Colony during MacDowell Month which is in February.
